This April Drink your Easter Eggs

Published: Vantage Point, April 2023

Year on year, celebrations for the long Easter weekend have been growing. Last year “easter themed food” experienced a 160% increase in Google searches and uses of #easterdecor have now reached more than 1.5m on Instagram. It’s clear then that we’re investing more time in Easter as a focal point in the calendar for hosting. And with great hospitality comes tasty drinks.

The brilliant team of cocktail magicians at Tattam’s in Guildford have recently unveiled a Chocolate Drop Cocktail on the new menu, served in a theatrical chocolate cup garnished with raspberries. In keeping with seasonal eating, the tipple features rhubarb liqueur, for a Tattam’s take on a rhubarb truffle in a glass. Rhubarb is the perfect springtime ingredient and when paired with the depth of the chocolate, creates a full-on flavour experience. Think easter eggs, but all grown-up.

And if you want to try making Easter-themed cocktails at home, experiment with Easter Egg Martinis with Baileys, vodka and mini chocolate eggs. Or the White Rabbit cocktail is an amaretto-based cocktail, mixed with gin, double cream, lemon curd and vanilla. One for those with a sweet tooth, or fans of lemon tarts for a post-dinner treat.

But if you prefer your dessert with a dash of coffee, the talented team at Tattam’s also have a downright delicious dalgona coffee-style cocktail, for an indulgent adult treat.

Here’s how to make the Tattam’s Dalgona Martini for an elevated imbibing option at home this Easter:

Tattam’s Dalgona Martini

Ingredients

25ml Vodka

25ml Coffee Liqueur

25ml Crème de Mûre

1 tbsp instant coffee granules

1 tbsp sugar

1 tbsp boiling water

Method

  1. Add the coffee, sugar and boiling water into a bowl and use a whisk or stick blender until you have made a velvety foam. This is your dalgona coffee foam; set aside for later.

  2. Add the vodka, coffee liqueur and Crème de Mûre into a container with a cup of ice and stir until the outside starts to frost and the liquid is chilled.

  3. Pour into your glass. Spoon the dalgona coffee foam on top to finish

Tip: For a professional look, top with 3 whole coffee beans.

This is a superb cocktail to finish a classic roast dinner with friends and family, and happily enjoyed with an Easter chocolate (or two).
